A physician and a staff person of Dhaka’s Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, where coronavirus patients are being treated, have tested positive for coronavirus.
The infected doctor, Ataur Rahman, is an herbal specialist and the staff person, Mosharrof Hossain, is his assistant. Both of them were incorporated in this hospital recently.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Md Alimuzzaman, administration officer of the hospital, said: “Ataur and one of his assistants, Mosharrof Hossain, have tested positive for the virus. They were not infected at the hospital.
“We are suspecting that these two got infected at their homes. They are currently under home isolation.”
“All the physicians tasked with treating coronavirus patients are doing well and till now none of them have been infected,” he added.
According to hospital sources, Ataur and Mosharrof, who recently joined the Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, were not directly assigned to handle coronavirus cases.
However, hospital authorities are trying to find the exact source from where the two hospital members caught the virus.
As of Wednesday, Bangladesh has confirmed 1,231 coronavirus cases with the death toll rising to 50 after four new fatalities were reported.
The fast spreading Covid-19 has so far killed 128,000 people in more than 200 countries and territories.
