Child Rights Advocacy Coalition in Bangladesh has urged the government to distribute relief rations to people living in the Chittagong hill tracts in light of the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
The child rights organization expressed their concern on the living condition of the tribal people in a press release on Friday.
According to the press release, residents of the Chittagong hill tracts area have locked down their area voluntarily to protect themselves from Covid-19.
Residents of Lama upazila said they are self-isolating themselves by locking their area with bamboo gates for the last two weeks.
However, due to the lockdown they are now forced to eat wild potatoes or starve as there is a shortage of food in the area.
Moreover, no government relief rations were distributed among them till now.
At least 300 families of different tribes in the area are now living in humane condition.
Child Rights Advocacy Coalition has requested the government and other quarters of the society to send relief rations to people living in the remote hill tracts are as soon as possible.
