A journalist of the private television channel, Independent Television, has tested positive for Covid-19.

"The journalist went into self-isolation on March 26 after he started showing symptoms," CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Independent Television M Shamsur Rahman said in a Facebook video message on Friday.

“The journalist showed symptoms on March 26 and went into self-isolation since then. He contacted IEDCR two days ago and the results came positive,” said Rahman.

Analyzing CCTV footages, the organization has prepared a list of 47 people who were in contact with the journalist, he added.

“All of them have been sent to self-isolation,” he said.

If none of them shows any symptom in five days, it can be said that the infection has not spread, he added.

The journalist is currently under observation at the Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, said a journalist of the television channel.

Bangladesh reported five new Covid-19 cases on Friday.

With this, the total number of coronavirus patients stands at 61. No new death was reported in the last 24 hours. So far, six people have died from the virus infection in the country.
