IEDCR: 126 Covid-19 tests in last 24 hrs

So‌ ‌far‌, 44 patients‌ ‌have‌ ‌tested‌ ‌positive‌ ‌in‌ ‌the country

The‌ ‌Institute‌ ‌of‌ ‌Epidemiology,‌ ‌Disease‌ ‌Control‌ ‌and‌ ‌Research‌ ‌ (IEDCR) has so far tested 920 people with coronavirus-like symptoms and of them, 126 were tested alone in the last 24 hours.

IEDCR‌ ‌Director‌ ‌Dr‌ ‌Meerjady‌ ‌Sabrina‌ ‌Flora‌ made the revelation addressing‌ ‌an‌ ‌online‌ ‌press‌ ‌briefing‌ ‌on‌ ‌Thursday.‌

So‌ ‌far‌, 44 patients‌ ‌have‌ ‌tested‌ ‌positive‌ ‌in‌ ‌the country.‌ Of which, 11 patients have‌ ‌recovered.

Bangladesh has so far confirmed five coronavirus deaths since the outbreak of the deadly pandemic in the country.

At the conference, Dr Flora urged everyone to stay home, and avoid any public gathering.

She further stated that hospitals would collect samples and send them to IEDCR for testing henceforth.

There are over 470,000 cases of coronavirus in 200 countries and territories, Reuters figures tallied at 0200 GMT on Thursday showed. Ninety of these places have 100 cases or more.

Deaths linked to the virus rose by 2,400 to more than 21,000 worldwide. Italy recorded the most in the latest daily figures, with over 680 deaths.
