Govt changes names of 14 hospitals, including Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute

Order will take effect immediately

The government has officially changed the names of 14 hospitals and medical colleges, including Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

The announcement came on Sunday in a notification signed by MA Akmal Hossain, senior secretary of the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The notification says the names of the institutions at both national and district levels have been updated.

Notable changes include Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, which is now the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital in Faridpur has been renamed Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Eye Hospital and Training Institute is now Gopalganj Eye Hospital and Training Institute, while Sheikh Hasina Medical College Hospital in Tangail is now Tangail Medical College Hospital.

Additionally, the Sheikh Russell National Gastro Liver Institute and Hospital has been renamed National Gastro Liver Institute and Hospital.

Other name changes include the Sheikh Lutfor Rahman Dental College Hospital to Gopalganj Dental College Hospital, Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College Hospital to Gopalganj Medical College Hospital, and the Sheikh Sayera Khatun Trauma Centre to Gopalganj Trauma Center.

The 250-bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital has been changed to Sirajganj 250-bed General Hospital, and Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Jamalpur is now Jamalpur Medical College.

Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital has been renamed Khulna Specialized Hospital, while Bangabandhu (Daldia) Union Health Sub-Centre in Kishoreganj is now the Daldia Union Health Sub-Centre.

Colonel Malek Medical College Hospital has been renamed Manikganj Medical College, and M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital in Dinajpur has been changed to Dinajpur Medical College.

The notification specifies that this order, issued in the public interest by the president, will take effect immediately.
