Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has held a views exchange meet with Bangladeshis living in South Korea and discussed various problems expats face abroad.
During a three-hour session in the South Korean capital of Seoul, the expatriate community of Bangladesh discussed issues and anomalies in availing government services with reference to passports and other pertinent matters.
The home minister, who is now on an official visit in Seoul, attended the interactive sessions held on Sunday, said the Embassy in a press release.
He responded to all of the queries related to applying for new passports, renewal of passport, epassport, dual citizenship, police clearance, establishment of specialized hospital for the expatriate Bangladeshis and pending cases in different courts.Director General of the Department of Immigration and Passports, Major General Md Sohail Hossain Khan, and other senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, were present.
The home minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been putting emphasis on establishing good governance.
At the same time, he said, Bangladesh is moving forward in digitizing the country, and the Home Ministry has already taken important initiatives to introduce epassport in due course.
The home minister said the prime minister is also considering to offer more facilities to the expatriates who send remittances to Bangladesh through legal channels.
He urged the expatriates to invest more in Bangladesh and said the Home Ministry is working to provide improved services at the doorsteps of the people living abroad.
The home minister described different welfare activities undertaken and carried out by the Home Ministry.
Before the program, the home minister visited the Consular Section of the embassy and enquired about its activities.
