The Bangladesh government is working to secure the Myanmar border in order to control drug trafficking, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said.

“We are working to control drug trafficking. Efforts are being made to secure the Myanmar border. We have strengthened the BGB. A helicopter has been purchased so that they can maintain contact with the border,” he said during a program in Munshiganj on Saturday.

The home minister emphasized protecting the youth from drugs and said: “Some 65% of the country's people are part of the working force. Most of them are young people. If we can't protect that youth society then it is an irreparable loss to the country.”

He added if the young generation falls in the traps of drugs then Bangladesh's development would be hindered.

The home minister further asked people to cooperate with police and concerned authorities to identify drug peddlers and users.
