Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM) Chairman Bobby Hajjaj has written to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to arrest Nurul Haque Nur, leader of one faction of Gono Odhikar Parishad.
The letter mentions Nur's alleged involvement in acts of sedition, and religious incitement and urges the home minister to initiate an investigation into the recent controversies surrounding him.
Bobby Hajjaj also claimed that he has sent a letter to the Election Commission, urging it to not register Gono Odhikar Parishad as a political party.
He made the comments at a press conference organized to demand Nur's arrest at the NDM central office located in Dhaka's Malibagh on Sunday.
In the letter sent to the home minister, Hajjaj said according to the top leaders of Nur's party and the statement of the Palestinian ambassador, it has been proved that Nur had a secret meeting with Mendi N Safadi, who is an agent of Israel's intelligence agency.
He later alleged that no action has been taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs or intelligence agencies of Bangladesh so far on such a sensitive issue.
“We have sent a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs to bring Nurul Haque Nur under the law and interrogate him for indulging in conspiracies against the internal security of the country and the interests of the Muslim Ummah,” Hajjaj said during the press briefing.
Bobby Hajjaj, speaking about the letter sent to the Election Commission, said that as a registered political party, the Nationalist Democratic Movement had formally submitted a letter to the commission, urging them not to grant registration to Gono Odhikar Parishad.
