Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman said that half of the 2,146 polling centres in the capital are risky.
He said this while talking to reporters after a book festival at Rajarbagh Police Lines School and College on Monday.
“Security measures have been arranged considering half of the centers in Dhaka city risky. There are also many remote centres within the city, where people have to use trawlers. Viewing all these, we think our security system is strong,” he added.
The DMP commissioner said Ansar members will perform security duties alongside police in the polling centers in Dhaka.
“Apart from this, other law enforcement agencies will also patrol the areas,” he added.
The 12th national polls is scheduled to be held on January 7.
