The officer-in-charge (OC) of Shah Ali Police Station, Jahangir Alam, has been withdrawn from his post on administrative grounds.
Jahangir was attached to the Central Reserve Office of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Headquarters and Administration Department on Saturday afternoon, according to a DMP order.
The order, signed by DMP Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters and Administration) Md Shahriar Ali, was issued on Saturday and came to light on Sunday.
The move came two days after a group of people allegedly attacked the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur-1 on Thursday night, vandalising the facility and looting valuables, according to police.
DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed visited the centre on Saturday and said police were investigating whether there had been any negligence or failure on their part.
The DMP subsequently formed a committee to investigate the incident and asked it to submit its report within a day.
