440 arrested in police operation in Dhaka

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are currently underway

A total of 440 people were arrested in a regular operation by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) across the capital over the past 24 hours. During the operation, 46 cases were filed at different police stations.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, Niaz Mehedi, disclosed the information on Monday.

According to the DMP, 29 people were arrested by the Ramna Division, 45 by the Lalbagh Division, 50 by the Wari Division, 36 by the Motijheel Division, 67 by the Tejgaon Division, 127 by the Mirpur Division, 31 by the Gulshan Division, 50 by the Uttara Division, and five by the Detective Branch (DB).

During the operation, police recovered one foreign-made pistol, one magazine, six rounds of ammunition, one sword, one knife, and one grenade. They also seized 12.5 kilograms of cannabis, 39,127 yaba tablets, 3.2 grams of powdered yaba, one motorcycle, nine mobile phones, and Tk 3,000 in cash. In addition, two victims were rescued.

The DMP official said the arrests were made during operations conducted in various police station areas across the capital, during which the aforementioned evidence and narcotics were recovered.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are currently underway.
