Jamalpur-5 independent candidate Rezaul Karim Reznu's election camp and the home of one of his activists have been vandalized, allegedly by the Awami League candidate’s men.
This incident took place in Kasharupara village of Jamalpur Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
According to eyewitnesses, 15 to 20 supporters of Awami League candidate Abul Kalam Azad abruptly came in front of Kasharupara Government Primary School and vandalized the camp of independent candidate Rezaul, who is contesting the election with the eagle symbol. At the time, they also set fire to the camp.
Later they forcibly entered the house of the camp's joint convenor, Md Alam, and vandalized it.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Jamalpur Sadar Circle) Md Sohrab Hossain, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Barkat Ullah, Jamalpur Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Mohabbat Kabir and other members of law enforcement visited the spots.
Additional SP Md Sohrab Hossain said legal action will be taken based on police investigation if a written complaint is filed.
