The nomination of popular Dhallywood actor Ferdous Ahmed, a candidate chosen by the ruling Awami League for the Dhaka-10 constituency, has been declared valid.
Apart from Ferdous’ nomination, two other candidates’ nominations were also announced valid.
Returning Officer Sabirul Islam declared the names of the candidates for the Dhaka-10 constituency at a press conference in the capital’s Segunbagicha on Monday.
The candidates are Zaker Party's Humayun Kabir and Bangladesh Sanskritik Muktijot’s Shahriar Iftekhar.
On the other hand, eight candidates’ nominations were cancalled.
On November 26, the ruling Awami League picked Dhallywood actor Ferdous Ahmed to contest 12th national parliament election from the Dhaka-10 constituency.
Ferdous collected nomination forms for two constituencies in Dhaka – Dhaka-10 and Dhaka-18 – from Awami League.
Despite being a showbiz star, he has not been seen in any notable movies in the past few years.
However, he was quite active in Awami League politics. Also, he had done public relation works for the Awami League in various elections across the country.
The 12th parliamentary election will be held on January 7, as per the schedule announced by Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal on November 15.
