Awami League joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim on Friday said if he gets elected, he will turn the parliamentary constituency of Dhaka-8 into a smart area.
“The nation is in a celebratory mood in anticipation of the next national elections. Beginning on December 18, we would knock on people's doors in accordance with the electoral code of conduct to ask for their support and vote for Boat,” he said while talking to newsmen after Jumma prayers at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
Nasim, Awami League backed candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency, said that the nation's citizens desire elections. They are participating in the nationwide election celebration, but some with vested interests are attempting to sabotage it by calling for a hartal and blockade.
"BNP is not taking part in the election as they have no support from the people at all. They would not be able to frustrate the election in any way. People know about their misdeeds, and that's why they have rejected the BNP," he added.
After the Jumma prayers, Nasim exchanged greetings with the devotees and later went to the High Court Mazar and offered Fateha there.
