After a prolonged break, classes for undergraduate and MS-PhD programs at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) resumed on Wednesday.
This decision was made during an urgent meeting held on Sunday, chaired by Professor Dr GKM Mostafizur Rahman, who oversees the university's administrative and financial affairs, along with members of the academic council.
The meeting aimed to address the academic disruptions that have occurred over the past two and a half months and to swiftly restore normalcy to educational activities.
Dr Mostafizur Rahman emphasized the university’s primary focus on the education and future careers of the students, highlighting the importance of overcoming the academic setbacks they faced.
He reaffirmed the administration's commitment to maintaining the university's distinguished reputation both nationally and internationally and encouraged faculty and students to provide constructive feedback to further enhance academic excellence.
Dr Mostafizur Rahman expressed hope that students would soon re-engage fully in campus life, advancing both education and research.
There is a palpable sense of enthusiasm and excitement among students as they return to classes after a long gap.
It is important to note that classes and examinations at public universities across the country had been suspended since July 17 due to a movement related to teachers' pension schemes and student protests against disparities.
