The group art exhibition ‘Untold Story’, curated by artist Fariha Jebar, was inaugurated on September 1 at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka, by Tanvir Ahmed, managing director, Sheltech Group and Envoy Legacy.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Frédéric Inza, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of France in Bangladesh, as a distinguished guest.
Bringing together artists’ books and contemporary artworks, Untold Story explores memory, identity, heritage, loss, aspirations and lived experiences.
Through painting, drawing, collage, embroidery, textiles, collected objects and experimental books, the exhibition gives form to stories that are often personal, fragmented or left unspoken.
At the heart of the exhibition is the artist’s book, presented as an independent artistic space through which memories and personal histories can be preserved, reconstructed and reinterpreted.
Participating artists include Esha Ahmed, Flavia Marín Chowdhury, Kajreen Samia, Sumaiya Chowdhury, Sumona Akter and Suravi Akter, alongside guest artists Alma Kamal, Arpita Singh, Mahmuda Siddika, Rafia Mahjabin, Rituparna Saha, and Venisa Kamara.
Untold Story remains open to visitors at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka, until September 9.
