Like other public universities of the country, the teachers of Barisal University continued their demonstration on Monday.

They observed the strike on the ground floor of the academic building from 11am to 1pm, demanding the withdrawal of the notification of “Prattay” scheme of universal pension.

The strike was initiated by Barisal University Teachers' Association on the call of the Federation of University Teachers' Associations.

They observed a sit-in program and refrained from taking examinations and classes.

Prof Abdul Baten, president of BUTA, said this program will continue until their demands are met. He assured that if the students fall behind in their academic courses, teachers will manage that by taking extra classes.

The agitating teachers said that they are holding a strike and sit-in program on the call of the teachers’ federation to demand the inclusion of university teachers in super grades, and the introduction of an individual salary scale for teachers.
