The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a special drive on Tuesday to curb noise pollution and raise public awareness on road safety in the capital.

The operation was carried out in the Manik Mia Avenue area adjacent to the National Parliament Bhaban, targeting vehicles fitted with illegal hydraulic horns, unauthorised hooters and other excessive noise-producing devices. Several such devices were seized during the drive.

DMP Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Md Anisur Rahman was present during the operation.

He instructed officers to take legal action against users of illegal hydraulic horns, unauthorised hooters and other noise-generating devices. He also urged drivers and vehicle owners to refrain from unnecessary horn use and highlighted the harmful impacts of noise pollution on public health and the environment.

"Noise pollution is a major threat to public health, the environment and urban life. The DMP's week-long special drive to control noise pollution in the capital is ongoing," Anisur Rahman said.

He called on all drivers and vehicle owners to comply with traffic laws and avoid unnecessary use of vehicle horns to help reduce noise pollution in the city.
