A teenage garment worker has been killed after a truck hit a motorcycle in the Kalshi area of Mirpur, Dhaka.
Md Siam Mridha, 15, died in the early hours of Friday, while the motorcyclist, Md Noyon, 18, was injured.
Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp, confirmed the information.
Siam’s brother-in-law, Mohammad Riaz, said Siam was riding pillion on his friend Noyon’s motorcycle when a speeding truck hit them from behind.
Both were thrown off the bike and critically injured. Siam was taken to the emergency department of DMCH around 12:45am, where doctors declared him dead.
The injured motorcyclist, Noyon, is receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Inspector Faruk said Siam’s body has been kept at the hospital morgue, adding that Pallabi police have been informed.
He lived with his family in the Eastern Housing area of Mirpur and worked at a garment factory in Mirpur.
