Police officer shot while heading home on leave

A few unknown individuals shot him twice in the left hand and once in the neck before fleeing

Constable Ruhul Amin from Chandina police station in Comilla was shot by assailants while returning home in the Gajaria upazila of Munshiganj district on Saturday night around 11:30pm.

The incident occurred at the Adarmanik auto stand as he was on his way home.

Ruhul Amin's wife, Sumi Akter, claimed that while returning from the nearby auto stand, a few unknown individuals shot him twice in the left hand and once in the neck before fleeing.

After receiving the news, they first took him to a local hospital and later transferred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

The police officer in charge of the hospital's police booth, Inspector Mohammad Faruk, confirmed that Ruhul Amin, aged 38, was admitted around 2:30am and his condition is critical, according to the doctors.

The local police have been informed about the incident.

Ruhul Amin, a resident of Adar Manik village in Gajaria, Munshiganj, is a father to a daughter and was set to resume work after his leave on January 5.
