Demanding the retention of the freedom fighter quota in government jobs, several organizations, including Muktijuddho Mancha and Muktijoddha Sangsad Santan Command, held a sit-in protest for nearly two hours in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh, Dhaka, on Wednesday before leaving the place when quota reform protesters blocked the intersection.
Pro-quota organizations started their sit-in in front of the National Museum at 10am.
At 11:30am, they marched from the museum to the Dhaka University TSC and gathered again in front of the museum.
At the same time, the students protesting for quota reform marched to the Shahbagh intersection.
To avoid any untoward situation, the police send the quota reform protesters from the museum to the Shahbagh intersection.
Leaders and activists of several organizations, including Muktijuddho Mancha, held the sit-in.
After the students blocked the road, announcements were repeatedly made from a megaphone, urging quota reform protesters not to provoke the pro-quota groups nearby or chant any slogans against them.
Meanwhile, at the freedom fighters' children's protest rally in front of the museum, they said they fought for rights legally, and if the reform protesters win their case legally, they will have nothing more to say.
But if they try to influence the court's verdict through public opinion, they will also continue their protests, the pro-quota groups said.
