At least two on-duty traffic police sergeants were injured after a crude bomb exploded in Gulistan, just an hour after a bus was set ablaze in the same area.
The incident took place near Paltan traffic police box at around 3:44pm.
One of the injured was identified as Sergeant Rezaul, and the identity of the other officer could not be known yet.
Both of them received primary medical treatment.
Rezaul said he was working to ease traffic congestion, created after a bus was set on fire, at the Zero Point intersection. “At that moment, a crude bomb exploded in front of me. A part of my leg was burnt in the incident.”
He said the miscreants fled before anyone could catch them.
Earlier, at around 2:23pm, a bus of Tanjil Paribahan was set on fire by miscreants in the same area.
Two firefighting units from Siddique Bazar Fire Station managed to douse the blaze.
