A total of seven developmental programs are set to be inaugurated in Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque is set to inaugurate the programs.
Brigadier General Md Nazmul Haque, director of the hospital, said after extensive efforts DMCH has successfully prepared seven new programs, keeping in mind the patients' suffering.
Some of these initiatives are pioneering endeavors that have never been implemented before in any government medical college hospital in Bangladesh, he added.
“No additional budget was allocated to DMCH for these programs. It has all been done from the budget allocated for our hospital,” he added.
The development programs include - a 10-bed Obstetric ICU, 10 bed ICU in the pediatric department, a 15-bed ICU in the medicine ward, a 50-bed isolation ward, a 200-seat doctor and nurse training complex, separate medical treatment facilities for HIV/AIDS patients and transgender patients, an online ticketing system for doctor's appointment.
In this regard, DMCH Assistant Director Dr Md Ashraful Alam said that the newly constructed ICUs will be helpful in eliminating the ICU crisis in government hospitals.
“The Isolation centre will be useful not only for Covid-19 but also in any pandemic. A better medical environment for AIDS patients and transgenders is the need of the hour. The modern training complex will be useful for training doctors and other health workers.”
