Dhaka district administration has announced financial aid for the victims of an explosion at a seven-storey building in the capital's Gulistan on Tuesday.
It also launched a booth in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital's emergency unit, where most of the injured are undergoing treatment, as a centre for providing necessary help to the families of the victims, Deputy Commissioner Md Mominur Rahman told the media.
“Financial, medical, food and all other kinds of assistance will be provided to the relatives of the victims from this booth. Apart from this, immediate compensation is being given by the district administration,” he said.
The families of the deceased would get Tk50,000, the deputy commissioner said, adding that the critically injured would receive Tk25,000 and those with minor injuries Tk15,000.
The explosion on Tuesday afternoon has so far claimed the lives of 17 people.
Officials fear the death toll will likely increase as many of those rescued are critically injured.
