At least 10 people, including barbers and customers, suffered burn injuries after an air conditioner exploded at a salon in the Alubazar area of Gulistan in the capital on Tuesday night.
The injured were rescued and taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, where nine of them were admitted for treatment.
The injured have been identified as customers Md Faruk, 35, Rinku, 30, Rony, 36, Jasim, 40, and Rafik, 25; and salon workers Shamshed, 30, Raju, 34, Pappu, 26, Sakib, 17, and Arman, 37.
Residential Surgeon Shawon Bin Rahman of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery said Faruk sustained burns to 50% of his body, Rinku 21%, Rony 10%, Jasim 8%, Rafik 12%, Shamshed 15%, Raju 18%, Pappu 18%, Sakib 1%, and Arman 15%.
He said Sakib was discharged after receiving primary treatment, while the remaining nine victims were admitted and are undergoing treatment.
