East West University (EWU) held an orientation for the newly admitted students of Summer Semester on Thursday.
The program was held on the university campus in Dhaka’s Aftabnagar, according to a media statement.
Nearly 1,000 students were admitted to graduate and undergraduate programs of 14 different departments this semester.
The objective of the program was to welcome new students and introduce them to university facilities, faculty members, academic system, and rules and regulations.
Speakers welcomed freshers to EWU and suggested utilizing academic life through perseverance.
They urged the freshers to be broadminded and tolerant, saying that a broadminded person does not only benefit her/himself but also the humankind.
In addition, they encouraged the newcomers to prepare to be future entrepreneurs.
Syed Manzur Elahi, chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU, and former adviser to the caretaker government, attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Prof MM Shahidul Hassan, vice chancellor, EWU, was the special guest at the program.
Prof Mohammed Farashuddin, chief adviser of EWU and former governor of Bangladesh Bank, was the program chair, while Prof Muhammad Ziaulhaq Mamun, pro vice chancellor, EWU, gave the welcome remarks. The deans of three different faculties also spoke on the occasion.
