East West University (EWU) celebrated its 30th founding anniversary at its campus in Aftabnagar, Dhaka, on September 26, 2026.
The celebration began in the morning with a balloon release attended by members of the Board of Trustees, university administrators, faculty members, students and alumni. A rally followed, circling the campus and surrounding areas.
A reflection session and cultural program were held on the university premises. Professor Dr Shams Rahman, vice-chancellor of EWU, delivered the welcome address.
Professor Dr Anindita Paul spoke on behalf of the faculty members, while Rozina Parvin spoke on behalf of the administrative officers.
The chief guest, Professor Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, founder vice-chancellor and chairperson of the Board of Trustees of EWU, delivered an address highlighting the university’s 30-year journey.
During the reflection session, speakers recounted the history of EWU, which began in September 1996 with 20 students. They highlighted its achievements in education and research over the past three decades and outlined a strategic vision for strengthening the university’s global standing.
Students, alumni and faculty members also performed in a cultural program held during and at the conclusion of the event.
The celebration was attended by members of the Board of Trustees, the pro-vice-chancellor, treasurer, deans of various faculties, department chairs, faculty members, current students and alumni.
