The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a sustainability-focused orientation program for newly admitted students of the Summer 2026 semester on Thursday at its campus.
The program emphasized sustainability, environmental awareness and responsible citizenship through interactive sessions, cultural performances and engagement activities involving both students and their families.
A key highlight of the program was the launch of the “1 Seed Box – 5 Global Goals” initiative by Vice Chancellor Prof Shamsad Mortuza. Under the initiative, each fresher received a seed box containing materials needed to grow a Bakul flower plant.
The vice chancellor encouraged students to nurture the plants and share their experiences through a dedicated section on the university website.
The program also included a session on essential skills, reflecting ULAB’s focus on innovation, responsible citizenship and experiential learning.
The event began with an interactive ice-breaking session organized by the Student Affairs Office (SAO), followed by the formal inauguration ceremony.
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Jude William Genilo shared insights into ULAB’s academic vision, student development initiatives and achievements in global rankings.
He highlighted the university’s recognition in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) for its innovative approach to higher education.
The program concluded with cultural performances by ULAB Sangskriti Sangsad, various student clubs and musical performances by bands Grave Chant and Antonagar.
