The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), in collaboration with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bangladesh and the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka, organized a cultural program on Wednesday to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Victory of the Long March.
Held under the theme "Great Journey, Shared Future," the day-long event brought together academics, diplomats and distinguished guests and featured photo and video exhibitions, a book exhibition, and displays of traditional Chinese culture highlighting the country's history, governance and cultural heritage.
ULAB students, faculty members and staff also took part in demonstrations of traditional Chinese arts, including calligraphy and paper-cutting, while the opening ceremony featured performances by the Shanghai Chinese Choir of the Confucius Institute and a Guzheng recital.
Speaking at the event, ULAB Vice-Chancellor Prof Shamsad Mortuza said the celebration reflected the shared commitment of Bangladesh and China to strengthening friendship, cultural exchange and mutual understanding through education and people-to-people ties.
The program concluded with a lecture titled "The Story of the Communist Party of China" by Li Shaopeng, culture counsellor at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bangladesh.
In his presentation, Li discussed the historical contributions of the Communist Party of China, the significance of the Victory of the Long March, China's development journey, its social and cultural identity, and the enduring friendship and cooperation between China and Bangladesh.
