5 arrested for pocketing money by tempting people with jobs

They ran their scam under the banner of a travel agency

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested five people in Dhaka on charges of embezzling money from people in the name of providing employment.

The arrested are Golam Mazed, 50, Narayan Sarker, 35, Mahdi, 19, Md Imtiaz, 31, and Enayet Ullah, 40.

Under the banner of ‘Asian Travels and Tour’, they would provide fake recruitment documents after taking money from job aspirants. 

The owner Ashraf Khan is still on the run.

Jahangir Alam, sub-inspector of CID, filed a case against the six along with several other unnamed people with Banani police station early Monday.

According to the case statement, several people on Sunday complained that they were given fake recruitment papers after they gave money to the accused for jobs.

When CID went to investigate the issue at the organization’s office in Banani, they learnt that several others were also victims of the con.

Later, they arrested the five and are still looking for the owner Ashraf.
