A woman was gang-raped in a moving bus on Friday at Karnaphuli’s Moijjartek area in Chittagong.
The victim's husband filed a case in this regard.
Police arrested bus driver Azad Khan, 23, and his assistant Shahedul Islam, 19, after the case.
They were arrested from New Bridge bus stand on Tuesday evening.
They later confessed in court and sent to Chittagong Central Jail.
Karnaphuli police station Inspector (investigation) Mehedi Hasan confirmed the information on Wednesday.
"Three days after the incident, the victim's husband filed a case with Karnaphuli Police Station on Tuesday. The bus driver and his assistant were accused in the case. Two people were later arrested. "
Deputy Commissioner of City Police (Port), Shakila Sultana said: "On Friday, the victim had gone to visit a relative’s home in Patiya. Around 9:30pm, she boarded a bus from Patiya Mansa Bus Stand to return to her husband's house in the Bakalia Tulatee area. When the bus reached near the Shah Amanat Bridge Toll Plaza in Karnaphuli Police Station area of the city, the driver and his assistant raped her.
“At that time, the woman was alone on the bus. During the incident, the driver and his assistant drove the bus on various routes. Around 11:30pm, the woman was dropped off in the Shantirhat area of Patiya."
