Police have detained a man for raping a madrasa student at Araihazar, Narayanganj on Sunday.
According to sources, the accused, Rakib, was a tenant at the girl’s house. On Saturday night around 10pm, he took the girl to his room by force and allegedly raped her several times until Sunday morning.
Leaving the girl severely injured, Rakib fled the area. Later, the girl informed her family and her mother filed a case under Women and Child Repression Act.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Araihazar police station Officer-in-Charge Nazrul Islam said: “We arrested the accused and sent the girl to Narayanganj Victoria Hospital for check-up.”
