The incident took place at around 11:30pm Monday in South Gudighata area.
Litu Mridha, AL general secretary of the upazila, said four men riding on motorcycles signaled my driver to stop the car while I was returning home after meeting the chairman of Barguna Zila Parishad.
He said when his driver stopped the car, the bike riders unleashed a sudden attack on the car and hit the window glasses with machetes.
“My driver Shaheen rushed the car when they were attempting a second try. The last stab fell on the rear window of the car,” said Litu.
He said no one could be identified as all of them were wearing mask on their face.
“Later I went to Bamna Health Complex for treatment as shattered piece of glasses badly pierced my face and body,” said the upazila chairman.
The car of the upazila parishad had been kept at Bamna police station.
A case would be lodged in connection with this incident, Litu said.
Bamna police station Officer-in-Charge Shahabuddin told the Dhaka Tribune that he visited the spot last night and lawful measures would be taken after the case is filed.
