A murder case has been filed nearly a week after the bodies of a mother and her two daughters were recovered from a room at the Barguna Zilla Parishad Dak Bungalow.

The case was lodged with Barguna Sadar Police Station on Tuesday by Dulal Chandra Biswas, husband of the deceased Iti Rani. Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abdul Alim confirmed the news.

The deceased were Iti Rani (34) and her daughters Aaradha Biswas (12) and Anuradha Biswas (3). Their bodies were recovered around 5:30 pm on June 3 from a room inside the Dak Bungalow.

According to the case statement, an unidentified person—possibly a visitor to the Dak Bungalow or a colleague of Iti Rani—may have killed the three and fled the scene through a window after locking the room from inside.

Following the recovery, police initially suspected suicide and filed an unnatural death case on the night of June 3.

However, the victim’s family rejected the suicide theory from the beginning, alleging that Iti Rani and her two daughters were killed in a planned manner. The husband, Dulal Chandra Biswas, maintained that his wife and children were murdered.

He also alleged complications in filing the case, saying police initially refused to accept his complaint and later asked him to wait for the post-mortem report. Although the case was later registered, he claimed that one of the suspects he named was not included as an accused.

“In the end, I had to file a murder case against unknown accused. We want a fair investigation to uncover the truth,” he said.

Police, however, dismissed allegations of irregularities. OC Mohammad Abdul Alim said the murder case has been recorded and an investigation is ongoing, while an earlier unnatural death case was already filed immediately after the incident.
