Writ seeks extension of interim government to 3 years

The writ seeks the transfer of those appointed on a contractual basis during the period of the Awami League government

A writ has been filed with the High Court seeking the term for the interim government for three years.

The writ filed on Monday also sought the transfer of those appointed on a contractual basis during the period of the Awami League government.

Executive director Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan filed the writ on behalf of the human rights organization Sarda Society on Monday.

The writ also sought a ban on the Awami League and cancellation of its registration due to the party's involvement in the indiscriminate killings of student protesters during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.

The hearing on this petition might take place before the bench of Justices AKM Asaduzzaman and Muhammad Mahbub Ul Islam.

The petition named the secretary to the Cabinet, chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, secretary of the Law Ministry, secretary of the Election Commission, secretary of the Bank and Financial Institutions Division, chairman of the National Board of Revenue, governor of Bangladesh Bank, head of the BFIU, and the coordinators of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement as respondents.

Also, the name change of the institutions which are named after Sheikh Hasina has also been requested.

It has also been requested to bring back the Tk11lakh crores smuggled abroad.

The writ petitioner Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan said: "To reform the country, the extension of the term of the current interim government has been requested for a minimum of three years.”
