The High Court on Monday granted bail to singer and former Awami League lawmaker Momtaz Begum in two murder cases and one attempted murder case.
The order was passed by a High Court bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajol and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher.
Senior lawyers Motahar Hossain Saju and Sara Hossain, along with advocate Khairunnesa, represented the petitioner, while Syeda Sazia Sharmin appeared for the state.
Following the hearing, senior lawyer Motahar Hossain Saju told reporters that bail petitions had been filed before Eid, after which the court issued rules in the matters.
“Upon hearing the petitions, the High Court made the rules absolute and granted bail to Momtaz Begum in all three cases,” he said.
