4 to die for murder in Lakshmipur

A court in Lakshmipur has handed the death sentence to four people for the murder of a woman three years ago.

District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Shahenur delivered the verdict on Tuesday, confirmed Public Prosecutor Jashim Uddin.

The convicted are Sharmin Akhter, 27, Jashim Uddin, 30, Jamal Hossain, 28, and Nazim Uddin, 30.

According to the case statement, Sharmin Akhter and her accomplices strangled her mother-in-law to death on July 14, 2016, around midnight at her in-law's residence in Dharmapur village of Lakshmipur.

The victim’s son Khorshed Alam filed a case in this connection accusing four people of murder.

Lakshmipur Sadar police station SI Morshed Alam submitted a charge sheet to the court on July 2, 2017, after his investigation.
