JSC candidate's body found in Nilphamari

The body will be handed over to the victim's family after autopsy

Police have found the body of a female Junior School Certificate (JSC) candidate in the sadar upazila of Nilphamari

The body was recovered from a pond near a brick kiln in Gorgram union of the upazila on Saturday morning,

The deceased Moyna Debnath, 14, was an 8th grade student of Gorgram School and College, Nilphamari sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mominul Islam told Dhaka Tribune.

He said Moyna was supposed to take part in the JSC, JDC examinations that began this morning.

According to relatives, Moyna went to the tube-well near the pond to wash her face and hands the previous night, and went missing. 

The next morning, workers of the brick kiln saw her body in the pond and informed the police. Upon   arrival, police found marks on her throat which showed signs of asphyxiation.

OC Mominul said the body has been sent to Nilphamari Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

He said: "We are investigating the matter, although no arrest has yet been made in this regard."

An unlawful detainer (UD) case has been lodged with the police regarding the incident. The body will be handed over to the victim's family after autopsy, he added.
