First-time taxpayers will be eligible for a reduced minimum tax payment of Tk1,000 in the upcoming fiscal year 2025–26, according to the proposed tax measures.
Individuals submitting their income tax return for the first time will pay Tk1,000 if their annual taxable income is below Tk 450,000.
In contrast, regular taxpayers will be subject to a minimum tax ranging between Tk3,000 and Tk5,000, based on their area of residence.
Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presented the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, amounting to Tk7,89,999 crore, in a televised speech on Monday.
