Update : 10 Nov 2024, 06:08 PM

The names of four individuals joining the advisory council of the interim government have been revealed.

They are Prof Md Sayedur Rahman, businessman Sheikh Bashir Uddin, film director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, and Chief Advisor's special assistant Mahfuj Alam.

The new advisers are scheduled to be sworn in at Bangabhaban on Sunday evening.

Dr Md Sayedur Rahman was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on August 27.

Sk Bashir Uddin is the Managing Director of Akij-Bashir Group, a leading industrial conglomerate in the country. He is the son of Sheikh Akij Uddin.

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki is a renowned film director, known for his work in films and dramas for several decades.

Additionally, a source said that former Inspector General of Police Khoda Baksh Chowdhury will join the interim government as the Chief Adviser’s special assistant.

After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government following a student-people uprising, an interim government was formed on August 8 with Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the Chief Advisor.

The current number of members in this government is 21.

However, there were suggestions from various quarters to appoint more members to the advisory council to bring efficiency to the government's activities.
