Bishwa Ijtema, the second-largest religious gathering in the Muslim world, is to start on Friday. People from various regions of Bangladesh, along with guests from different countries, will gather in large numbers at the Bishwa Ijtema grounds.
To ensure smooth transportation for this large number of people, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has designated parking areas and requested to stick to these guidelines.
The first phase of the Bishwa Ijtema will be from February 2 to February 4, and the second phase from February 9 to February 11.
Vehicle Parking
Police have instructed the visitors to the Ijtema to park their vehicles according to the division.
Parking for Dhaka and Chittagong Division: Under the jurisdiction of Sector 15, Kadamatali Market, slope of Bridge 5, and Ulo Dah field of Sector 17.
Parking for Sylhet and Khulna Division: Field beside the lake of Uttara Sector 15.
Parking for Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Mymensingh Division: West side of the Lake at Bridge 10 and Bridge 11, inside Sector 16, and Bou Bazar field.
Parking for Barisal Division: BIWTA Landing Station near Dhour Bridge Crossing.
Parking for Dhaka Metropolitan: Vacant area of Swadesh Property adjacent to the 300 feet road.
Diversions
Diversions at Dhour Bridge, Panchoboti Crossing of Sector 18, Padma U-loop, Khalpar of Sector 12, Mohakhali Crossing, Radisson Blu Hotel Crossing, Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway (Highway Nikunja-1 Kechi Gate), Kuratoli Flyover Loop-2, West side of Mohakhali Flyover and Mirpur Diabari Bus Stand Crossing.
These diversion points are only for the days of Akheri Munajat, on February 4 and 11, from 4am.
Special Instructions
On the day of Akheri Munajat from 4am, inter-district buses, trucks, covered vans, and other heavy vehicles will avoid Abdullahpur, Dhour Bridge intersection and will travel via Mohakhali-Bijoy Sarani-Gabtoli.
Similarly, vehicles from North Bengal coming via Nabinagar, Baipail, and Ashulia will avoid Kamarpara/Abdullahpur Crossing and travel via Savar, Gabtoli or Dhour Bridge Crossing using Mirpur-Beribandh.
Vehicles coming from Dhaka via Airport Road will travel over the Kuril Flyover via Progoti Sarani or make a U-turn at Nikunja-1 Kechi Gate.
On the day of Akheri Munajat from 4am, vehicles travelling via 300-feet road will avoid Kuril Flyover Loop-2 (towards the airport) and will use Progoti Sarani and Kuril Flyover Loop-4 (towards Kakoli Mohakhali). Airport Road must not be used in any case.
On the day of Akheri Munajat, it is requested to avoid the Kaola/Airport exit of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway.
All vehicles, except residents of Uttara, airline passengers, airline operational vehicles, and vehicles carrying airline crews, fire service vehicles, law enforcement vehicles, and ambulances, will avoid Airport Road and alternatively use Mohakhali Bijoy Sarani via Mirpur-Gabtoli Road.
For pedestrians going to the Bishwa Ijtema venue on foot from Dhaka, they will use the Bailey Bridge or Kamarpara Bridge over the Turag River to travel to Tongi Ijtema Maidan.
On the day of Akheri Munajat, for transporting passengers to and from the airport, transportation services will be provided by the Traffic-Uttara Division using Padma U-loop and Kuratoli Loop-2.
Drivers/helpers of vehicles carrying pilgrims must stay in the vehicle at the designated parking area and exchange mobile numbers with passengers and drivers for immediate contact if needed. The driver's mobile number must be visible in front of the vehicle.
Areas where parking is prohibited
Parking is not allowed on both sides of the road from Khilkhet to Abdullahpur via Dhour Bridge.
