DMP: 512 held, 48 cases filed in 24 hours

Legal proceedings against the detained individuals are underway

A total of 512 people were detained in the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) regular operations across the capital over the past 24 hours. During this period, police filed 48 cases.

A large quantity of drugs and other evidence was also recovered during the operations.

Niaz Mehedi, additional deputy commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, provided the information on Friday.

He said the detainees included 39 from the Ramna Division, 40 from the Lalbagh Division, 70 from the Wari Division, 71 from the Motijheel Division, 47 from the Tejgaon Division, 116 from the Mirpur Division, 56 from the Gulshan Division, 56 from the Uttara Division and 17 from the Detective Branch (DB).

During the operations, police recovered 1 kilogram and 204 grams of cannabis, 16,333 yaba tablets, 50 bottles of Eskaf syrup and 4 grams of heroin. In addition, five motorcycles and Tk15,400 in cash were recovered.
