Three people were killed in a head-on collision between two cars in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Sheikh Hasina Sarani in Purbachal in the morning.
One of the three deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, a businessman hailing from the Segunbagicha area of the capital.
Five more people were injured in the accident. Among them are Pappu, son of the deceased Nurul Islam, and the two drivers, Sukkur Ali and Milan.
Purbachal Fire Service Station Officer Uddipan Bhakta said at around 10am, a speeding car going towards Kuril Bishwa Road lost control and went from one side of the road to the other, colliding with another car going to Kanchan.
The fire service official said eight people, including the drivers of two cars, were seriously injured in the collision.
“When the injured were taken to Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital, the doctor on duty declared three people dead,” he added.
