United International University (UIU) has secured third position among private universities in Bangladesh in the QS World Rankings 2024.
The ranking is based on outstanding performance and initiatives. The university became one of the top 1201-1400 universities in the world and achieved a fifth position among all universities in Bangladesh, reads a press release issued on Tuesday.
QS World University Rankings evaluates universities across the world according to six key metrics: academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, faculty or student ratio, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.
The QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings which comprises the global overall and subject rankings.
It is the most widely read university ranking in the world, says the release.
This year, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US clinched the top spot, followed by Cambridge University in second place and Oxford University in third, both located in the United Kingdom.
The QS World University Rankings is among the few internationally recognized university rankings.
UIU's inclusion in these rankings is a commendable accomplishment for the university and a source of national pride for Bangladesh.
The institution has been praised for maintaining a high standard of education, conducting research at the highest levels within the country and contributing meritorious graduates to the global community, reads the release.
