Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) has achieved the first place among all public universities in Bangladesh in the Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Ranking 2025.
The reputed UK-based education magazine Times Higher Education (THE) published the ranking on its official website on Wednesday.
According to the ranking, GAU is first among the public universities in the country to be rangled at 801-1000th at the international level. The ranking has been done by evaluating the contribution and activities of 2,526 renowned higher education institutions from 130 countries around the world based on the 17 goals of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Earlier in January this year, GAU was ranked the best in the country in the Times Higher Education 'World University Subject Ranking-2025'. GAU secured the first place among all the public-private universities in the country in the Life Sciences category. In addition, GAU achieved the top position among all the agricultural universities in the country in the Asia Ranking of THE 2025 and GAU was included in the list of the world's top 300 innovative universities in the 2024 URI ranking.
Expressing its gratitude for this outstanding achievement of the university, GAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr GKM Mostafizur Rahman said: "Gazipur Agricultural University has been ranked the best university in Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Ranking 2025. It is a proud achievement for us to have achieved the top position among all the public universities in the country in the ranking. This recognition is an international recognition of our continuous efforts in education, research and sustainable development. Our commitment and effective participation in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals declared by the United Nations is the basis of this achievement.''
