On the occasion of historical March 7, Radwan Mujib Siddiq paid rich tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Tuesday.
He paid homage by placing flower wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhaka's Dhanmondi.
After laying the wreath, he stood in solemn silence as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu.
CollectedSeveral Awami League leaders also paid their tributes including General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Deputy Leader of the House Matia Chowdhury, Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, Presidium Member Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak and others.
After that, other political, social, and cultural organizations and individuals paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
On March 7 in 1971, Bangabandhu through his fiery and soulful address made a clarion call to the people to fight against the Pakistani occupation forces to achieve the long-cherished independence.
He addressed a million-strong crowd at Suhrawardy Udyan (formerly Race Course Maidan) and delivered his stirring speech urging the people to fight for freedom from Pakistan's occupation forces.
CollectedHis words inspired every heart present: "Turn your homes into fortresses; resist with everything you have.... Having learned how to make great sacrifices, we'll give more blood if need be – God willing! We will free our land!"
This momentous address profoundly inspired Bengalis to fight for their freedom during 1971's War of Liberation. The speech thus gained a place on “Memory of the World International Register” – an esteemed list maintained by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).
