The fourth dose of Covid-19 vaccination is scheduled to begin on December 20.
Vaccination centres have been given the instructions in a circular signed by director and line director, Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) of the Department of Health, Dr Md Shamsul Haque.
According to the guidelines, the Pfizer vaccine will be administered as the fourth dose. A fourth dose may be administered to individuals after four months have passed since receiving the third dose.
However, the fourth dose would be given to selective people belonging to five classes. Those who will receive the vaccine are people 60 years and older, people 18 years and older with long-term illnesses, people with weakened immune systems, pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Besides, first line workers, freedom fighters, government officials, among others, would be prioritized.
The fourth dose of vaccination should be administered at booths operating at all permanent Covid-19 vaccination centres located at city corporation/ district/ upazila/ municipal level across the country.
