Update : 03 Oct 2022, 03:53 PM

The ongoing special first dose vaccination campaign for Covid-19 in Bangladesh has been extended till Saturday.

The campaign will take place next Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday to meet the citizens' demands, Prof Dr Ahmedul Kabir, additional director general (administration) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter to Bangla Tribune.

He added that after Saturday, authorities will not administer the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine anymore.

“There will be no campaign for the first and second doses of Covid-19 vaccines after this one. Those who could not take it for logical reasons can take it later through a designated vaccine centre,” said DGHS Line Director  Shamsul Haque.

In the last three days, 8.1 million people have been vaccinated with the first, second, and booster doses, the line director also mentioned.

“Considering the current infection rate of 15%, the duration of the campaign is being extended by three more days,” he added.

On the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's birthday on September 28, the government launched a special inoculation drive to administer the Covid-19 vaccine to as many unvaccinated people as possible.
