Mass vaccination drive extended by two days

The government had earlier said the first dose vaccination campaign would end through a special campaign on Saturday

Update : 28 Feb 2022, 12:40 PM

The health authorities in Bangladesh have decided to extend the campaign to administer the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by two days to Monday.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) chief Dr ABM Khurshid Alam confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Saturday afternoon.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque is scheduled to make an announcement later in the day, he added.

The government had earlier said the first dose vaccination campaign would end through a special campaign on Saturday.

Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, president of the vaccine deployment committee of the DGHS, attributed the change in decision to large crowds at vaccination centres throughout the country on Saturday.

Saturday’s vaccination efforts will continue as long as there are people eligible for inoculation at the centres, she added.
