The health authorities reported 166 fatalities from Covid-19 and 6,364 fresh cases, with Dhaka being the worst affected division, in the 24 hours till 8am on Friday.
With the latest development, the total number of deaths reached 18,851 in the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin.
Dhaka division reported 60 deaths, followed by Khulna and Chittagong with 33 fatalities each.
Rangpur division reported 12 deaths while Barisal counted 10, Sylhet eight, Rajshahi seven, and Mymensingh three.
During the same period, as many as 6,364 people tested positive for the virus taking the total number of infections to 1,146,564 till Friday morning.
Dhaka logged 3,698 cases, the highest among the divisions, followed by Chittagong with 1,189 cases.

As many as 20,493 samples were tested across the country, with a positivity rate of 31.05%. The overall test positivity stands at 15.5%.
On the other hand, another 9,006 patients recovered from the infectious disease across the country, taking the total number of recovery to 978,616.
The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected so far stands at 1.64%.
Aiming to stem the upsurge of Covid-19 cases and deaths triggered by the Delta variant of coronavirus, Bangladesh on Friday went into another round of strict lockdown for 14 days right after the country celebrated Eid-ul-Azha.

Mass vaccination in Bangladesh has remained suspended since the Eid holidays began on July 20.
Till now, nearly 4.298 million people have received the second dose of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine while a little over 1.522 million people have received the first dose of the vaccine and are awaiting the second dose.
Additionally, 1,049,660 people have received the first dose of Sinopharm vaccine, while 3,319 people have received the second dose.
Meanwhile, the total number of people administered with the first dose of the Pfizer vaccines stood at 50,104, and the number of people administered with the first dose of the Moderna vaccine at 269,537.

The fast spreading coronavirus has claimed more than 4.1 million lives and infected over 193 million people across the world till Friday afternoon, according to Worldometer.
As many as 175.847 million people have recovered from Covid-19, which has spread to 220 countries and territories across the planet.
